Ramakant Jha, who was heading the pet project of Narendra Modi of developing a financial centre in Gandhinagar is joining IL&FS as CEO for smart city initiative.
Jha was heading GIFT City or Gujarat International Finance Tec-City which is the country's First global financial hub. Ajay Kumar Pandey would replace Jha in GIFT from August this year.
The Narendra Modi government had recently announced that it would be developing 100 smart cities across the country. "IL&FS has been approached by various state governments to provide consultancy for developing smart cities.
Considering the large experience of Jha in the field of infrastructure, urban development & Smart City, IL&FS has requested him to spearhead the IL&FS Group's activity for Smart City and take over the charge as CEO of this important initiative from August 01, 2015," a statement from GIFT read.
