India Army Launches Operation Maitri
1. As part of the Nation’s overall relief effort for Nepal, India Army has launched Operation Maitri.
2. Soon after the devastating earthquake, Gen Dalbir Singh, COAS, who besides himself being an officer of the Gurkha Rifles Regiment is also the Honorary Chief of the Nepalese Army, spoke to his counterpart, General SJB Rana, Chief of the Nepalese Army.
3. Gen Dalbir Singh immediately detailed two senior officers to proceed to Kathmandu and coordinate IA’s relief efforts in synergy and hand in hand with Nepalese Army.
4. They are presently carrying out reconnaissance of affected areas and road conditions.

Delhi Government to launch Labour Development Mission on May 1
1. Delhi government will launch ‘Labour Development Mission’ on May 1, aimed at ensuring payment of notified minimum rates of wages to all contractual workers in the national capital.
2. To ensure payment of notified minimum wages to workers and bring transparency in the system, the employers were also directed to pay wages to workers by ECS/Cheque.

Bank of Baroda ties up with UAE Exchange for instant money transfer
1. Bank of Baroda (BoB) has partnered with UAE Exchange to offer Non-resident Indian (NRI) customers an instant cash transfer facility.
2. This agreement will facilitate customers can send money within minutes to their desired bank accounts in BoB in India.
3. This facility is also supported by SMS alert, which will notify the moment the amount is credited in the bank account of desired customer.
4. UAE Exchange is a global remittance and foreign exchange (FOREX) company.

Paula to receive London Marathon Lifetime Achievement Award
1. World record holder Paula Radcliffe will receive the inaugural John Disley London Marathon Lifetime Achievement Award after she completes the 2015 London Marathon.
2. The three-time winner will run what is expected to be her final competitive race at the 35th London Marathon.

Assam awarded as Best e-Panchayat state
1. Assam has been awarded as the Best e-Panchayat state.
2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the award to state Rural Development minister in New Delhi.

Italy celebrates 70th anniversary of anti-Nazi uprising
1. Italy is celebrating the 70th anniversary of a partisan uprising against the Nazis and their Fascist allies at the end of World War II.
2. The anniversary marks the day in 1945 when the Italian resistance movement proclaimed an insurgency as the Allies were pushing German forces out of the peninsula.

Gopinath Pillai awarded ‘Outstanding Service Award’ for his services in Singapore
1. Indian-origin diplomat Gopinath Pillai was awarded ‘Outstanding Service Award’ for his services by the National University of Singapore (NUS).
2. Current he is serving as Ambassador-at-Large of Singapore and special envoy to Andhra Pradesh.

Actor Anil Kapoor conferred with Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2015
1. Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor conferred with prestigious Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2015.
2. He was presented the award by noted historian and writer Babasaheb Purandare.
3. Apart from Anil Kapoor, veteran Marathi actor Dilip Prabhavalkar was also bestowed with the prestigious Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2015.

50th Jnanpith Award conferred on Marathi litterateur Bhalchandra Nemade
1. 50th Jnanpith Award was conferred on eminent Marathi litterateur Bhalchandra Nemade on 25 April 2015.
2. He was presented award comprising of 11 lakh rupees and a citation plaque and a bronze replica of Saraswati by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a function in Parliament House Complex in New Delhi.
3. His novel, Kosala, written in 1963 is considered as a path breaking in Marathi literature.
