ICICI launches NFC-enabled payment service ‘Tap-n-Pay’
1. ICICI Bank in collaboration with Tech Mahindra launched a payment service ‘Tap-n-Pay’ based on the near-field communications (NFC) technology, enabling customers make over-the-counter payments without using cash.
2. It can be used for merchant payments by merely tapping a NFC-enabled mobile phone or a tag on the counter.
3. For making payments, the user will have to bring the NFC tag or the mobile phone near a device at the merchant’s facility and the amount will automatically get debited from the prepaid account.

First ship of Project 15B –INS Visakhapatnam Launched
1. The First ship of Project – 15B, Guided Missile Destroyer, christened ‘Visakhapatnam’ was launched on 20th April 15 at a magnificent ceremony at Mazagaon Dock Limited (MDL), Mumbai
2. The four ships of Project 15B ships being built at MDL, Mumbai have been designed indigenously by the Directorate of Naval Design, Delhi and bear testimony to the acclaimed legacy of Naval designers.
3. INS Visakhapatnam is a 65 percent indigenous vessel and 11 of the weapons and sensor systems that will become part of the stealth destroyer will be indigenous.


UP organises summit on emerging biz opportunities in solar energy
1. To highlight the emerging business and trade opportunities in the solar and renewable energy segment in Uttar Pradesh and other states, a national Solar Summit is being organised.
2. Summit will be organized in Lucknow
3. The three-day event, being hosted by Indian Industries Association (IIA), would be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on April 24, 2015.

Novak Djokovic wins Monte Carlo Masters title
1. Top-ranked Novak Djokovic won the Monte Carlo Masters for the second time in three years by defeating sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych.
2. Djokovic, who has lost only two matches in 2015, became the first player in tennis history to win the first three Masters tournament of the year after completing the Indian Wells-Miami sweep this spring.
3. With his 23rd Masters title, Djokovic extended his winning streak to 17 matches, including a straight-set win over clay specialist Rafael Nadal in the semifinals on Saturday.

Hamilton consolidates top spot after winning Bahrain Grand Prix
1. Defending champion Lewis Hamilton won the Bahrain Grand Prix from pole position to strengthen his overall lead in the Formula One standings with his third win in four races this season and 36th of his career.
2. Hamilton has won nine of the past 11 races and is chasing a third title

Government introduces bill to raise investment limits for MSME units
1. The government today introduced a bill in the Lok Sabha to enhance the investment limits for micro, small and medium enterprises and also made a provision for enhancing it further through a notification.
2. The investment limits in plant and machinery for the enterprises is proposed to be raised to :-
Micro enterprises Limit was Rs 25 Lakh Now Rs 50 lakh
Small enterprise to Rs 10 crore Earlier it was Rs 5 Crore
Medium enterprise to Rs 30 crore Earlier it was 10 Crore

Adidas will use Marine Plastic waste for its Products from 2016
1. German sportswear firm Adidas is teaming up with a group trying to clean up the world’s oceans with a plan to develop materials made from marine plastic waste that can be used in its products.
2. Adidas would phase out the use of plastic bags at its 2,900 stores.

EPIC and Aadhaar card enough to get PAN card
1. An EPIC or Aadhaar document will now be enough for any individual to obtain PAN card as the Income Tax Department has relaxed the cumbersome procedure of having multiple documents to prove one’s own identity.
