Answer of Series Completion Questions
Answer 1 : Option (b)
The correct pattern is ( × 2 + 1 )
Hence, 39 is wrong and must be replaced by (15 × 2 + 1) = 31
Answer 2 : Option (b)
Go on subtracting 3 and dividing the result by 2 to obtain the next number. So, 46 is wrong.
109 - 3 = 106 ÷ 2 = 53
Answer 3 : Option (d)
The correct pattern in the series is ( + 1110 )
So, 5686 is wrong and must be replaced by (4566 + 1110) = 5676.
Answer 4 : Option (c)
The correct pattern is × 2, × 4, × 2, × 4, .....
So, 550 is wrong and must be replaced by (320 × 2) = 640.
Answer 5 : (b)
The given sequence is a combination of two series :
I. 3, 8, 13, 18, 23 and
II 2, 9, 22, 32,42
The pattern in I is + 5 and the pattern in II is + 10.
So, in II, 9 is wrong and must be replaced by (2 + 10) = 12
Answer 6 : (d)
The numbers are cubes of prime numbers
Clearly, none is wrong
Answer 7 : (d)
Alternately, the numbers are increased by four and doubled to get the next number
Thus, 10 + 4 = 14
14 × 2 = 28
28 + 4 = 32
32 × 2 =64 and so on.
So, 132 is wrong and must be replaced by (68 × 2) = 136.
Answer 8 : (b)
The given sequence is a combination of two series :
I. 1, 5, 7, 11, 12 and
II. 5, 9, 11, 15, 17
The pattern in both I and II is + 4, + 2, + 4, + 2
So, 12 is wrong and must be replaced by (11 + 2) = 13.
The numbers are cubes of prime numbers
Clearly, none is wrong
Answer 7 : (d)
Alternately, the numbers are increased by four and doubled to get the next number
Thus, 10 + 4 = 14
14 × 2 = 28
28 + 4 = 32
32 × 2 =64 and so on.
So, 132 is wrong and must be replaced by (68 × 2) = 136.
Answer 8 : (b)
The given sequence is a combination of two series :
I. 1, 5, 7, 11, 12 and
II. 5, 9, 11, 15, 17
The pattern in both I and II is + 4, + 2, + 4, + 2
So, 12 is wrong and must be replaced by (11 + 2) = 13.
Answer 9 : (c)
The given sequence is a combination of two series :
I. 11,21,32,41,51 , and
II. 2,3,4,5,6.
So the pattern is I = + 10
So, 32 is wrong and should be replaced by (21 + 10) = 31.
Answer 10 : (c)
The given sequence is a combination of two series :
I. 11, 20, 40, 74 and
II. 5, 12, 26, 54
The pattern in I becomes + 9, + 18, + 36, So 40 is replaced by 38.
Answer 11 : (d)
The numbers are 7 × 8, 8 × 9, 9 × 10, 10 × 11,11 × 12, 12 × 13.
So, 150 is wrong and must be replaced by (12 × 13) = 156.
Answer 12 : (c)
The sequence is + 5, + 8, + 11,
So 47 is wrong and it is replaced by (32 + 14) = 46.
Answer 13 : (c)
The sequence is - 11, + 9, - 7, + 5. - 3, + 1
So, 86 is wrong and it is replaced by (78 + 9) = 87
Answer 14 : (a)
The correct sequence is
The given sequence is a combination of two series :
So, 86 is wrong and it is replaced by (78 + 9) = 87
Answer 14 : (a)
The correct sequence is
So, 36 is wrong.
Answer 15 : (d)
(1×1)+1 , (2×2)+1 , (3×3)+1 , (4×4)+1 , (5×5)+1 , (6×6)+1 , (7×7)+1 So (8×8)+1 = 65
But, 64 is out of pattern.
