K.N Tripathi Sworn in as 16th governor of Mizoram
1. K.N Tripathi is the Governor of West Bengal and Bihar and has been given the additional charge of Mizoram.
2. It is the 16TH Governor of Mizoram.
3. Congress-ruled Mizoram has seen seven governor in last eight months. Tripathi replaces Aziz Qureshi, who was sacked last week. 
4. His term would have ended in 2017

Tripathi a Constitutional expert is born at Allahabad and practised law in Allahabad High Court from 1956 till 2014 except the time when he was Speaker of Uttar Pradesh three times in 1991, 1997 and 2002

Chennai highest per capita emitter of greenhouse gases
1. At nearly 39 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent Delhi has the highest greenhouse gases footprint in the country.
2. Greater Mumbai and Chennai follow Delhi with 23 million tonnes and 22 million tonnes respectively.
3. Ahmedabad accounts for the least (9 million tonnes) GHS footprint.
4. Chennai has the highest per capita emission of carbon dioxide equivalent 4.79 tonnes. Kolkata follows Chennai with 3.29 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
5. Chennai also emits the highest carbon dioxide equivalent per GDP 2.55 tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent per lakh rupees.
6. The paper has looked into all sources of greenhouse gas emissions transportation, domestic sector, electricity consumption, industry, agriculture and livestock, and solid and liquid waste.


Delhi International Airport wins Golden Peacock award
1. Delhi International Airport Limited has won ‘Golden Peacock National Quality Award’ for 2015 for their concerted efforts in building a culture of Total Quality across Indira Gandhi International Airport.
2. The award will be presented to DIAL by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, Government of UAE at the “Golden Peacock Awards Night” on April 20, 2015 in Dubai, during the annual “25th World Congress on Leadership for Business Excellence & Innovation”.
3. DIAL is a joint venture company of the GMR Group, Airports Authority of India, Fraport and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad. 

Massive Ocean found on Jupiter’s largest moon Ganymede
1. NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has found strong evidence of a massive saltwater ocean under the icy crust of Jupiter’s largest moon Ganymede that could potentially support life.
2. The subterranean ocean is thought to have more water than all the water on Earth’s surface, researchers said.
3. Ganymede is the largest moon in our solar system and the only moon with its own magnetic field.

New butterfly species spotted in West Bengal 
1. Wildlife enthusiasts have found the Malayan Green Banded Peacock (Papilio palinurus), a beautiful specimen found in South East Asia, for the first time in India.
2. The butterfly with a dusty green base having a bluish green band spread over both wings in the shape of an arc is found in southern Myanmar and peninsular Thailand south-eastward into Borneo and the Philippines..
3. West Bengal is probably the only State which is home to a wide variety of peacock butterflies.

Blue Peacock,
The relatively common Paris Peacock,
Common Peacock
Common Banded Peacock.
The only other Peacock butterfly found in the country is Buddha Peacock or Malabar Banded Peacock.
Buddha Peacock Butterfly is endemic to south India.

Central Bank of India tops list with highest bad loans among PSU banks
1. Central Bank of India has topped the list of public sector banks with maximum bad loans including restructured assets as a percentage of total advances.
2. According to the data provided by the RBI to the Finance Ministry, Central Bank of India’s 21.5 per cent assets are either bad or have been restructured to save them turning non-performing assets (NPAs).
3. The other banks which have significant amount of gross NPAs and restructured loans include, United Bank of India (19.04 per cent), Punjab & Sind Bank (18.25 per cent) and Punjab National Bank with 17.85 per cent as on December 2014.
4. Indian Overseas Bank, State Bank of Patiala, Allahabad Bank and Oriental Bank of Commerce all have bad and restructured loans in excess of 15 per cent.
5. Most of the restructured loans are from the corporate sector. The top-30 defaulters are sitting on bad loans of Rs. 95,122 crore, which is more than one-third of the gross non-performing assets of PSU banks at Rs. 2,60,531 crore as on December 2014.
6. There are four kinds of restructuring. The first and foremost is restructuring of advances extended to industrial units, restructuring under Corporate Debt Restructuring and restructuring of loans extended to MSME as per RBI guidelines.
7. However, banks have their own operational rule for restructuring of small loans.
8. RBI has not prescribed any board or bank level position at which these loans need to be approved.

Diageo buys out Mallya in United National Breweries 
1. Diageo, the world’s largest spirits maker, took full control of South African beer maker United National Breweries by acquiring the additional 50 per cent stake in the company from Vijay Mallya-controlled Pestello Investments for an initial payment of $22 million.
2. Diageo has entered into an agreement to acquire the remaining 50 per cent share of United National Breweries' (UNB) interest in the company, thereby making it a wholly-owned subsidiary. 
3. Diageo, which is also a major producer of beer and wine and owner of popular brands such as Johnnie Walker, Guinness and Smirnoff, had, in January 2013, acquired 50 per cent interest in UNB’s traditional sorghum beer business in South Africa reportedly at $36 million.
4. In 1996, Mallya’s UB Group had acquired 30 per cent stake in UNB and later increased it to 100 per cent.

88th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan starts at Ghuman (Dist. Gurdaspur, Punjab)
1. Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan that started at Ghuman (Dist.Gurdaspur,Punjab),the mega event, which began on Saturday is a tribute to the memory of Baba Namdev, a saint born in Maharashtra, who spent 20 years in Ghuman. through him, the people of Maharashtra and Punjab share a unique bond.

2. Marathi is the first language of majority of people from Maharashtra state. 
3. The first Marathi Sahitya Sammelan was held in Pune in 1878 under the chairmanship of Justice Mahdev Govind Ranade.
